It was only when he returned to the training room that Gu Wei realized why the T.ATW group chat had suddenly gotten so active—
Jiang Xun had ended his livestream early. His computer was already switched off, and he was just waiting for Gu Wei now.
"You're done?" Gu Wei asked, stopping by the door.
"All done. I told them I needed to go spend some time with the little friend who came to visit me." Jiang Xun leaned back in his chair and faced Gu Wei. "Come here."
Gu Wei had just washed his face. His eyelashes and bangs were still damp with little droplets of dew. He scooted closer but didn't get too close, worried about getting water on Jiang Xun's equipment.
But Jiang Xun spun his chair halfway around and abruptly pulled Gu Wei over the rest of the way.
Gu Wei blinked in surprise, and a few droplets from his eyelashes fell onto Jiang Xun's fingertips.
And just like that, Gu Wei's gaze was drawn to Jiang Xun's hands. He was instantly captivated and utterly incapable of looking away from those fingers.
Before, when he had scrolled through Jiang Xun's Weibo page, he had noticed Jiang Xun's hands more than a few times. And now those hands were right in front of him.
He lifted one of his own hands, instinctively wanting to wipe away the water droplets that had landed on Jiang Xun's fingers. It was only after their fingers had brushed that Gu Wei realized this sort of gesture might have carried some… ambiguous implications.
Gu Wei saw the smile in Jiang Xun's eyes, and he quickly explained, "I just…"
"Why don't you massage it for me?" Jiang Xun suggested. He clearly hadn't understood Gu Wei's original intent, and now he properly offered his hands to Gu Wei. "I haven't had a break all night. My hands hurt."
Gu Wei was stunned speechless, but his body moved faster than his brain. He reached out and took Jiang Xun's hands, giving those long, elegant fingers a gentle rub.
"Does it still hurt?" Gu Wei asked worriedly.
He was concerned about doing more harm than good. He couldn't afford to damage these hands. After all, the meme had very expensive hands.
Just outside the door to the training room, the other three members of Team TMW were piled up, peeking in at their captain's antics.
"He's shameless," Kumachan accused. "Like hell his hands hurt, he's just a degenerate."
"That degenerate has someone, and you don't," SK said, pointedly elbowing Kumachan in the side.
West let out a deep, profound sigh. "It's all over. That little starlet is going to be gobbled up by the captain. Not even a bone will be left."
Jiang Xun swept his gaze over to the door, and the source of those quiet whispers instantly scattered to the winds.
"It's getting late," Jiang Xun said, glancing at the clock on the wall. "Let's go, we'll sleep together."
Gu Wei stared at him.
He had thought Jiang Xun was just kidding around about that. It never once occurred to him that Jiang Xun could have been serious about sleeping together.
Nonetheless, he followed Jiang Xun all the way to Team TMW's dormitory. He watched as Jiang Xun opened a door. Then Gu Wei was promptly pushed inside, with Jiang Xun following a second later and closing the door behind them.
The room wasn't large, and it was very simply furnished. Except for a desk, there was just one bed pushed up against the wall.
"Do you guys…" Gu Wei hesitated. "…have any other rooms here?"
"Nope," Jiang Xun answered immediately. "We're packed in like sardines here. If you want to spend the night, you'll have to share with me."
Gu Wei frowned.
He got the feeling that that was a load of bull. Jiang Xun's credibility was basically zero right now.
"I'm going to take a shower," Jiang Xun said, setting a key down on the desk. "If you're tired, you can sleep first."
But when Jiang Xun returned from the showers, he found Gu Wei still sitting around, looking a little uncomfortable.
"What's wrong?" Jiang Xun asked.
"Do you have… pajamas?" Gu Wei asked, hesitantly. When he had left his own dorm earlier that afternoon, he had packed in a hurry and only tossed in two changes of clothes. He hadn't brought his pajamas, and it would have been too uncomfortable to sleep in his sweater, so he could only turn to Jiang Xun for help.
Jiang Xun had just emerged from the bathroom. He was still wearing a bathrobe, and the water clinging to his skin had yet to fully dry. As he heard Gu Wei make that request, he couldn't help but flash a teasing smile. "Does that mean what I think it means?"
"What do you think it…" Gu Wei trailed off in the middle of his question as he suddenly realized Jiang Xun's question carried certain implications. "I'm not seducing you! I'm just purely, innocently asking to borrow your pajamas!"
"I got it, I got it," Jiang Xun laughed. He found an extra set of his own pajamas in the wardrobe and handed them over to Gu Wei.
"It looks a size too big," Gu Wei noted. He wasn't short, but Jiang Xun's clothes looked large to him.
"That's because you're too thin," Jiang Xun said. He eyed Gu Wei's waist for a moment before he asked, "If you didn't even pack your pajamas when you came out to stay the night, what's in that bag of yours?"
Gu Wei only had two changes of normal clothes in his bag, as well as the medicine he needed to take every day.
Jiang Xun's gaze swept over the medicine box when Gu Wei took it out. He took note of the name, but didn't ask any further questions.
Gu Wei poured himself a cup of hot water and took his medicine. Then he picked out a spot that looked cozy on Jiang Xun's bed.
The bed obviously wasn't made for two people, even if it was a bit wider than a standard single bed, and some physical contact would be unavoidable if two people tried to squeeze onto that one bed.
Gu Wei lay down with his back to Jiang Xun. He pulled out his cell phone and started shopping around for a birthday present for Jiang Xun again. Now that he had seen how Jiang Xun spent most of his time in the Team TMW training room, Gu Wei deleted everything he had previously added to his shopping cart.
He suddenly had a brilliant new idea.
Jiang Xun lay down on his side by the window, and he took out his phone as well. He opened up WeChat and scrolled through his contacts to find Chu Yi—
[100K Volts]: Question, what's Estazolam usually used to treat?
Chu Yi would obviously be asleep by that time. Jiang Xun exited the chat and got ready to put his phone away, when Jiang Ying suddenly sent him a new message—
[Big-Clawed Crab]: Wooooow, ge, I heard you already sealed the deal?
[100K Volts]: Not yet. Taking it slow.
[Big-Clawed Crab]: Good luck, ge. You'll get him sooner or later.
Jiang Xun looked over his shoulder and saw that Gu Wei had already fallen asleep. Gu Wei was still clutching his phone, and Jiang Xun suddenly had a moment of clarity. Now he perfectly understood how that like on a ten-year-old Weibo post had come about.
After taking Gu Wei's phone away, Jiang Xun got him settled into a more comfortable position and tucked him in properly, drawing the covers up to his chin. Gu Wei shifted in his sleep, brushing his hair over the back of Jiang Xun's hand.
[Big-Clawed Crab]: Hehe, working overtime tonight, but the director says we're off tomorrow.
[Big-Clawed Crab]: I'm pretty close to H City right now. How about I pay you a visit tomorrow and meet your fiancé?
[Big-Clawed Crab]: What should I wear? Should I get my hair done? Maybe I should bring a present or something, to really make a good impression on your behalf.
[Big-Clawed Crab]: Alright, never mind that for now. Get some sleep. I'll go lurk around my fan circle. There's a popularity vote going on, and the battle is fierce. Even my rival is getting ahead of me.
